HB996 by Rep. Brock Martin (R-Huntington) would create prescribing authority for certain psychologists if certain conditions are met. On March 26, 2025, the Health subcommittee heard testimony from both sides of the issue, and after much discussion, Rep. Ryan Williams suggested sending this bill to summer study to research and collaborate on the issue moving forward. The bill did NOT advance this year, but it could resurface next legislative session.
The Collaborative Care Model bill sponsored by Rep. Tim Hicks (R-Gray) unanimously passed on the House Floor on Thursday. Earlier this week, the bill passed the Senate and now finds its way to the Governor’s desk. The legislation increases coverage of psychiatric provider expertise in the treatment of patients in primary care settings.
Also - importantly - THANK your Senators and House Representatives. Be looking for fours networking meetings this year to help get the word out about this bill and get Primary Care Physicians using this model.
